Before each competition run, there is a robot check in which the size of the robots is checked. Then comes the actual competition run. I was very nervous, but luckily we were the first to go. So we were able to place our robot on the starting field straight away.

We were then allowed to press the signal at the robot start and the referee stopped the time. After all, a run was only allowed to last a maximum of 2 minutes.

The robot scored 42 points, which was a very satisfactory result! We had already collected points in our first run!

After this first run, the robot had to be parked again and lunch was served. Then it was back to work: we had another construction phase, this time lasting just 60 minutes, to optimize our program. We programmed our robot to be able to stop on the starting field again at the end and dared to tackle the surprise task.

After two more scoring runs and construction phases, we were already facing the final scoring round. We had scored points in two out of three rounds so far, so it was no longer so risky. Our robot couldn’t really collect any more points than it already had, so it didn’t matter if we collected any points at all. But of course we still hoped that we would score more points than in the first rounds. We actually managed to score points again, but it was exactly the same as our second best run, so unfortunately it didn’t make any difference.

After the last race, we had to clean everything up while the organization team compiled the rankings. Then the ranking was announced and we were very surprised to come third! That made me very happy!

In the evening we were very exhausted and glad that we could now relax at home. I thought it was very nice that only relatively few teams from one age group took part at this location, so it wasn’t too crowded. The day was very exciting and we learned a lot both on the day itself and during the preparations.

On the day of the competition, we mostly worked on the technical problems, but even though it was quite stressful, it was a lot of fun. It was also interesting to see the other teams’ solutions. They were very diverse.

Dear WRO

Thanks for the Lego box and the mat. When we first opened the Lego box, it had lots of cool things and special items.

We practiced for 3 hours a day before the competition. We think that the other robots looked very difficult. We had understood and achieved a lot, we did our best.

We learned a lot and we are sure that we will learn something again next time. The competition was a lot of fun and the cookies were very tasty…

We are very excited about tomorrow’s WRO regional competition in Flawil. In the last few weeks, we have been allowed to be flexible a few times: The three of us have been a mixed team since the beginning of April – consisting of the formerly registered “Wissbad-Meedle” & “Wissbad-Buebe”. We were often busy tinkering, building and trying things out and also had to put up with the odd frustration. While we scored over 100 points with individual runs, others failed completely shortly afterwards. We often struggled with the incidence of light, the alignment of the robot and the time available. It would be interesting to know how many kilometers our robot has covered in the last two months.

A final test is currently underway. Then we take the robot apart and pack everything neatly for tomorrow. This leaves time to wind down and recharge your batteries.

Today we were a bit annoyed because the robot always has to be aligned so that it drives the way we want it to. And that doesn’t always work.

He also jams the cut grass under the chassis in between and then he just does something.

So we took a break and designed the T-shirts for the competition instead!

On the last weekend of the spring break, we resumed our training and worked intensively.
Our robot still had a lot to learn. And we learned a lot with him-
It was worth it. Working with two robots has brought a lot. Robolina and Robolix are built in exactly the same way. Nevertheless, small changes to the program are always necessary, as they never travel in exactly the same way.
We are now also good at assembling the robot. Our Robolix is assembled quickly and reliably.

The programming is organized in such a way that necessary adjustments can be made quickly at certain points. Now we have a good robot that can score a lot of points with a bit of luck,
We are also curious to see what solutions the other teams have found.
We are confident and are looking forward to the regional preliminary round in Brugg-Windisch and meeting many others.
